Bethany 101 is a five-week course that explores the key truths of the Christian faith from a Lutheran perspective. Attendance at this course is required for those joining Bethany who are not transferring their membership from another Lutheran congregation. Those transferring from another Lutheran church are welcome to attend as are any members of Bethany wanting to “refresh” their catechism instruction.

Bethany 201 is a one-session event that welcomes confirmed Lutherans transferring to Bethany from another Lutheran congregation as well as those who have completed Bethany 101. This session, therefore, joins together all those entering Bethany together in one gathering in which new members have a chance to meet one another at the same time they are learning about Bethany. This learning will focus on the history, practice and values of Bethany Lutheran Church and our BLUEPRINT for mission and ministry as the body of Christ in this corner of His Kingdom.

The next Bethany 101 session will begin at 4:00PM on Sunday October 11. The last Bethany 101 session will be on Sunday, November 8th at 4:00PM. Bethany 201 will be at 4:00PM on Sunday, November 15. Childcare is provided for each session with RSVP.

The first five verses of Psalm 108 come from the pen of David and tell his true heart of worship. Worship at Bethany strives to exhibit this same heartfelt truth of worship that David knew. SoulSing is a different expression of worship at Bethany. Join us for a time of song, praise, and word that will awaken the dawn. SoulSing now meets every Sunday night @ 6:00 PM (except when there is a 5th Sunday). On the 5th Sunday of a month we will have a Service of Prayer, Meditation, and Healing at 6PM.

September means back to school time. It's also a reminder for everyone to pray for your children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren. Moms In Touch International is a worldwide ministry dedicated to encouraging moms, grandmothers, aunts, to gather together for an hour of prayer each week. The focus of this prayer time is the children and our schools. Groups pray not only for the students, but the teachers, coaches, secretaries, anyone working at the school. Pastor Kritzer & Karl Fink will lead the group. If you are experiencing grief recently, in any way, shape, or form, or if your grief has been buried for quite some time, please make an effort to attend this class. There’s a nominal fee for the materials, so if you could call or email Karl Fink that you are attending, he can be sure there are plenty of materials available. Please invite friends or co-workers who have experienced grief to join, if that works out!

Living Way—Living Way begins on Wednesday evening, September 23, at 7PM in the Parish Lounge.  This Bible study starts the Book of Job for this year!  The small group/lecture series is open to all members of the congregation (and friends) and will run to the start of the Advent Season.  If you have any questions about Living Way, please contact Karl Fink via email or at the church office.

Childcare is provided. We will finish up "Character Makeover" and begin the study of Romans. This is a great way to dig deeper into the Bible and get to know many wonderful women. Are you a mom who has recently had a baby in the last few years? Would you like to get to know a few other Bethany moms who are going through the same stuff as you are? The Bethany Moms’ Group would love to have you!  We meet every other Friday morning at 10:00AM, with our kids, for a play date in the nursery. We will be meeting this month on November 6 & 20. Opportunity to Serve  On November 7th you have an opportunity to make a difference in our community. Lutheran Social Services of Southern California and Faith in Action/Volunteer Action for Ageing are sponsoring a work day to help seniors living in Long Beach with some light home repair and yard work. This is an excellent opportunity to live out the Bethany Blueprint. We will meet at First Lutheran Church, Long Beach at 9:45AM and will be done by approximately 1:00PM.
