Saturday, October 24th is Movie Under the Stars from 7-10PM:

Bring a lawn chair, cozy blanket, and a favorite snack to enjoy. Hot chocolate and popcorn will be provided. The movie is still to be determined, but if you have any suggestions contact Sarah O'Connor. We will meet by the flag pole in Freedom Square.

 

 

Beach Bonfire - Saturday, November 7th at Bolsa Chica Beach (Lifeguard Tower #24):

  • Meet at Bethany at 4:45PM to carpool and we will leave by 5:00PM.
  • We will leave the beach at 9:30PM and be back to Bethany at 10:00PM.
  • NO Charge for this event! *Please note: if you are planning to meet us at the beach there is a fee for parking with is around $10.
  • The Youth Board is providing snacks, but if you want to donate something that is okay too.
  • ALL High School Youth are invited and PLEASE feel free to invite a friend! This is a great OUTREACH opportunity to friends both here at Bethany and in your personal circle.
  • Ben Koehlinger will be joining us for devo's. This should be a great FALL get-together. Hope you can make it!
  • Let Mr. Scott Andersen know if you are planning to come, so he can make sure that there is enough food on hand.

HS Sponsored Bookfair is Coming! Bookfair is December 6-11, 2009. Start checking your calendars now and make room in your schedule to work the bookfair. it's a great way to earn money for your youth account (especially with the NYG coming this summer). December Progressive Dinner: Save the date for Friday, December 18 for our Annual High School Holiday Progressive Dinner. Details to follow so watch the next month's Chimes and our weekly Sunday bulletin as well.

 

 

National Youth Gathering:

  • For those who have registered to go, watch for a postcard with a November meeting date (TBD), and any other announcements in the Sunday Chimes.
  • The 2010 National LCMS Youth Gathering happens July 17-21, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisana.

High School Bible Study Hour:

Every Sunday morning from 9:30-10:30AM, we have our High School Bible Study Hour. All high school youth are encouraged and invited to join us in the Youth Center. We have guest speakers and our topics are current and relevant to topics  affecting teenagers today. Watch the Sunday bulletin for this month’s details. All are welcome and invite a friend. This is a great time to reconnect with friends and be in the Word.

Breakfast is Served! High school youth join us at 9:15AM every Sunday morning for a light breakfast. We realize that many of you are participating in the Power Sundays and we want to make sure that you are nourished and have the “power” to get you through your morning. These breakfasts are for ALL high school youth, so even if you are not involved in the Power Sunday, plan to come by a little early before the high school study hour begins and enjoy some fellowship with other Bethany high school youth.

*If any parent is willing to volunteer to provide a breakfast, such as bagels/cream cheese and fruit or if you have any other ideas, please contact Liz Treu.

 

  

NEW Power Sundays-High School Music Ministry:

Dear Bethany High School Youth (and moms and dads!):

You are cordially invited to join the Youth Music Ministry program of Bethany this coming year. (Handbells and Celebrate! Choir)  Sara Cerulle and Kevin Bowers have agreed to help as your leaders again this year, and we have some great music selected for you to ring and sing.

Many of you already signed up to be a part of these great groups during the Music Ministry Sign-Up Days, but we wanted to make sure that all of you had the current information.

We are moving to a "Power Sunday" model with rehearsals and worship all happening on Sunday mornings. Our intent was to alleviate soem of the stress wit our multiple school and athletic schedules, and still make it possible for many of our youth to participate.

HS Youth Email Contact List:

Parents and High School Youth…please email Aimee Coleman at acoleman@bethanylutheran.org with your name, email address, your child’s name & grade for the Fall ‘09 and you will be added to our youth group email contact list. High Schoolers, include your email address too and you will receive these updates as well. This is a GREAT way to stay informed of the wonderful and fun events for your kids!

 

 

Coffee & Donut Volunteers:

Thank you to the High School Youth who volunteered to help with this Sunday morning service to our congregation. The new schedule for August 2009 to January 2010 was sent by email to the participants and is posted in three additional places on campus: in the Youth Room, on the Bulletin Board in the breezeway by the Gym/Youth Center, and on the Coffee & Donut Cabinet.  A reminder postcard will be mailed to you prior to your scheduled Sunday.  Here is a link to download a copy of the Coffee & Donut Schedule for August '09-January '10.

 

Yearlong Medical Release/Permission Form:

*Make sure that you have a medical release form on file to go on ANY off-campus events for August 2009-August 2010. Forms are available in the Youth Center if you need to fill one out or click on the link to print a copy (Permission Form for August '09-August '10).
